House No. 8

In Punggol, a young family collaborated with Lite Design Collaborative to reimagine their 1,000 square foot four-room HDB flat into a light-filled sanctuary for everyday living. Guided by the rhythm of traditional Chinese courtyard homes, the new plan centres the living space at the heart of the apartment, while the bedrooms now nestle where the old living area once stood. Gentle curves trace the architecture, softening edges and ensuring safety for a growing toddler. Thoughtful storage solutions conceal daily clutter, preserving a sense of calm and clarity.

The kitchen’s dark, textural palette lends both depth and durability, contrasted by the luminous openness of the main living zone, where a passageway and custom cabinetry are seamlessly integrated. Infused with natural light and smart-home ease, the apartment reflects a graceful balance of form and function, a warm, contemporary retreat the family now calls home.
