The Commune Home

The Commune Home reimagines a spacious HDB executive apartment as a warm, three-generation sanctuary, anchored in togetherness while honouring individual rhythms of life. With each family member often retreating into their own bedrooms for privacy or focused work, the communal areas were kept intentionally calm and uncluttered, allowing the home to gather naturally only when desired. Shared spaces are positioned as quiet enablers of connection, thoughtful but never intrusive.

To encourage everyday interaction through daily routines, the divider between the kitchen and foyer was opened, welcoming natural light deep into the home and extending the communal spirit into the kitchen. A timber-accented island forms a natural focal point for gathering, whether for meals, cooking activities, or unplanned conversations shaped by the cadence of the day.

Balancing openness and retreat, The Commune Home supports both shared moments and individual privacy without distraction. The result is warm, considered, and effortlessly communal in experience.
